Social Programs

LSYC maintains an extensive, year-round social calendar. Regular events include dinner and theatre nights, a Steak Fry and Clambake, winter ski trips and our annual event the change of Watch Dinner and Awards Banquet. Other events popular with our members include Sunday brunches during the off-season, and numerous parties and celebrations of various holidays and major sporting events all year long.

Summer Cruise

The social highlight of the boating season is July’s Annual Cruise Week when as many as 20 family boats travel to ports throughout Lake Erie. Ports-of-call often include the U.S. and Canadian islands, Sandusky, Leamington, Ont., and other destinations within a day’s sail.

LSYC’s racing tradition is demonstrated by members who distinguish themselves as world and national one-design champions, Olympic and America’s Cup competitors, and as Lake Erie champions. Throughout the season, the club conducts:

Racing Clinics and regular one-design,

J24, PHRF, JAM and cruising class races on weekday nights.

In July, our annual PHRF, JAM, J24 and one-design regatta. These major events draw visiting boats to Lorain for one - three days of racing, parties and fun.

Our Annual Sea Scout Regatta, a counter in their national racing program.
